MANILA, Philippines — Department of Finance’s (DoF) Cielo Magno has resigned from her post as undersecretary, she confirmed on Thursday.

Magno confirmed to INQUIRER.net that she is stepping down from her post effective on September 16.

Magno did not say why she resigned from her post but said that she would return to teaching after her role as undersecretary of the DoF’s Fiscal Policy and Monitoring Group.

“I was grateful for the opportunity to serve the Filipino people. Being in the academe gives the opportunity to speak truth to power,” she said.

In a Facebook post the same day, Magno posted: “A wise man told me, if you do your job with integrity, you will be back in UPSE (University of the Philippine School of Economics) soon.”

INQUIRER.net has already sought a comment from both the Palace and the DoF but has yet to receive a response as of writing.
