2 persons electrocuted while installing internet antenna in Maguindanao Sur

Police hunt killers of village exec, municipal govt worker in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY — Two persons installing an internet antenna in Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao del Sur were electrocuted Wednesday when a pole they were trying to put up accidentally hit a live wire.

Captain Joel Lebrilla, Rajah Buayan municipal police chief, said Saiden Adas, 18, and Parekoy Abdulsalam, 34, both residents of Barangay Kaladturan, General Salipada K. Pendatun town, were installing a peso-wifi antenna amid strong winds when the freak accident happened at 6 p.m. in Rajah Buayan’s Sitio Kakar, Barangay Pedsandawan.

Lebrilla said the pole that the two were holding and trying to install hit a live high-tension power line, triggering a conflagration that lasted more than five minutes, killing them.

People were yelling and four residents tried to pull off the two but they, too, ended hurt by what they were doing.

The four persons who attempted to rescue the victims were rushed to the Maguindanao provincial hospital in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur.
