Paramilitary man dies in motorcycle mishap in Quezon

Motorcyclist dead in Quezon highway mishap

LUCENA CITY — A member of the government’s paramilitary group died on Wednesday after the motorcycle he was driving was hit by a sport utility vehicle in Catanauan town in Quezon province.

Ruel Auregue, 34, a member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (Cafgu), was negotiating a curve in the road in Barangay San Roque when he was bumped around 7 p.m. by a Ford Everest driven by Joselito Pena that came from the opposite direction, the Quezon police said in a report on Thursday, Aug. 17.

Auregue, wearing a crash helmet, suffered a fatal head injury and died on the way to the Bondoc Peninsula District Hospital in the locality.

Pena was placed under police custody.

The victim is the 10th fatality in motorcycle-related accidents in Quezon this August.
