Motorcyclist dead, 3 injured in Quezon mishap
LUCENA CITY — A young motorcycle rider died and three others were injured in a road mishap on Wednesday in Infanta town in Quezon province.
Quezon police reported on Thursday, March 30, that a speeding motorcycle driven by Celso Francia, 23, a Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) member, hit another motorcycle driven by a minor with two back-riders along the national road in Barangay Lual around 10 p.m.
Both motorcycle drivers and the passengers suffered injuries and taken to Claro M. Recto Hospital in the town center for treatment.
However, the young motorcyclist, who was not identified in the report for being a minor, was declared dead on arrival.
The report said Francia, who was traveling at a “high speed,” was under the influence of liquor.
The police said Francia was found in possession of a caliber .38 revolver with four bullets. The report did not specify if the gun had a valid government permit and issued to him as a Cafgu member.
Francia was placed under police custody as the investigation was ongoing.
The report said both motorcycles have no plate numbers.
