Habagat to dump rain over parts of PH on Saturday
MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon, locally referred to as “hanging habagat,” will trigger rain on Saturday over parts of the country including Metro Manila, said the state weather bureau.
In its late Friday afternoon weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the southwest monsoon is the prevailing weather system affecting most of the country.
The southwest monsoon is one of the weather systems that Pagasa said signified the start of the rainy season.

“In Occidental Mindoro, Antique, and Palawan, including Calamian, Cuyo, and Kalayaan Islands, there is a high chance of moderate to heavy rains due to the southwest monsoon,” Pagasa weather specialist Rhea Torres said.
She also noted that scattered monsoon rain showers and thunderstorms will likewise be felt in Metro Manila, Western Visayas, the rest of Mimaropa, and the western sections of Central Luzon, and Calabarzon.
