Town councilor, companion die as car rams roadside fence in Isabela
CABATUAN, Isabela — A 50-year-old town councilor in San Mateo town and his companion died after their car rammed a concrete roadside fence and turned upside down in this town early morning Sunday (May 14).
Police Major Scarlet Topinio, Isabela police spokesperson, said in a report that San Mateo town councilor Michael Angelo Ramones and Mario Acupan, a village watchman of Villa Gamiao also in San Mateo, were on their way home from attending an event in nearby Cauayan City when the accident happened in Barangay (village) Saranay at around 12:10 a.m.
Another car passenger, Sonny Baysa, 49, the village chief of Villa Gamiao, was wounded and is in critical condition at a hospital.
Ramones, who was driving the car, allegedly miscalculated the sharp curve and hit the roadside concrete fence. The wrecked car eventually turned upside down.
The victims were taken to the Cabatuan Family Hospital, but Ramones and Acupan died while being taken to the hospital while Baysa is still confined to the hospital.
