P1-million reward up for arrest of Pampanga legal officer’s attackers

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — Pampanga Gov. Dennis Pineda offered a P1-million reward for information that will lead to the arrest of two gunmen who attacked the provincial legal officer in the City of San Fernando early Monday.

In a post on his Facebook page also on Monday, Pineda strongly condemned the attack on lawyer Gerome Tubig.

Tubig just parked his car in front of the VL Makabali Memorial Hospital in downtown San Fernando around 7:30 a.m. when two helmet-wearing men aboard a Yamaha Aerox motorcycle arrived and fired several shots at the driver’s side of his car.

Tubig sustained bullet wounds and was taken to the hospital.

At least three empty cartridges of caliber .45 bullets were found at the crime scene.

Pineda said he had directed Pampanga police director Col. Levy Hope Basilio to find out the motive and arrest the gunmen and the mastermind behind the shooting of the provincial legal officer.

The 48-year-old lawyer served on the Pampanga Provincial Board as president of the Liga ng mga Barangay from 2013 until 2018.
