Comelec gets fund for new building
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has been allocated P8.3 billion to construct its own office building starting this year until 2025.
The multiyear contractual authority issued by the Department of Budget and Management on March 26 provided Comelec with a budget of P8,391,952,800 from 2023 to 2025 for the construction of the Comelec main office complex in Pasay City.
Shortly after he was appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. last August, Comelec Chair George Garcia pushed for the agency’s proposed eight-story building that will be constructed in a three-hectare Comelec property at the Pasay City Central Business Park.
Comelec spokesperson Rex Laudiangco said on Thursday that the public bidding process may start this month. —DONA Z. PAZZIBUGAN
