DBM approves funding for new Comelec building
MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Budget Management (DBM) approved the funding for the construction of the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) new headquarters in Pasay City.
Based on the DBM’s multi-year contractual authority (MYCA) shared by Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudianco to reporters, a total of P8,391,952,800 have been set aside for the construction of Comelec’s new building.
This year, P1,248,886,865 will be allocated for the building’s construction, P3,713,098,814 in 2024, and P3,429,967,121 in 2025.
According to Laudiangco, the MYCA was issued by DBM on March 29.
“We wholeheartedly thank the Office of the President, the Senate of the Philippines, the House of Representatives, the Department of Budget and the Department of Public Works and Highways for helping us, the COMELEC, the remaining constitutional institution which doesn’t have its own building, to finally realize our dream of having a permanent home in 83 years of existence,” said Laudiangco.
The Comelec’s Office Complex is set to be built in Central Business Park I, Island A, Pasay City.
