Gov’t intends to implement single-ticketing system in other LGUs, entire PH

MANILA, Philippines — The government intends to implement the single ticketing system in other local government units (LGUs) outside Metro Manila, and in time, the entire country said Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) acting chief Don Artes on Thursday.
According to Artes, Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr. himself floated the idea in hopes of unifying traffic fines nationwide.
“Ito ay historic hindi lamang sa NCR (National Capital Region) kundi sa buong bansa dahil sa’min pong pag uusap ni Sec. Abalos ng DILG, ilalatag din po itong single ticketing system, ipupush po niya na hindi lamang po sa NCR mangyayari kundi sa buong Pilipinas,” said Artes during the signing of a memorandum of agreement between Metro Manila mayors, MMDA, and the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
(This is historic not only in the NCR but in the entire country because of our conversation with Sec. Abalos of DILG, where he said he wishes to lay down this single ticketing system and push that it will not only happen in NCR but in the whole Philippines.)
Artes explained that one of the primary reasons for this goal, apart from centralizing violations, is the integration of other LGUs within the LTO’s IT systems or the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS).
“In which case hindi na rin po nila (traffic enforcers) kailangan mangumpiska ng lisensya at ‘yung pagbabayad po ay mapapadali, so panalo po dito ang mga LGUs at mga motorista,” said Artes.
(In which case, they won’t need to confiscate the license, and the payment will be easier, so it’s a win-win situation for LGUs and motorists.)
