MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is assuring the public of “hassle-free” and “trouble-free” travel this Holy Week and during the school “summer” vacation.

LTFRB Chairman Teofilo Guadiz III said Monday that ” we are doing everything” to make sure that the public transport system will be “convenient, accessible, safe and secure, and affordable” so the journey will be seamless for all travelers.

According to him, all LTFRB regional directors across the country have already deployed enforcers to conduct inspections and ensure that public utility vehicles are roadworthy. All drivers and conductors were also reminded to stay alert and drug- or alcohol-free so commuters would be safe.

LTFRB regional directors were also tasked to go after illegally-operating PUVs and ensure existing public health safety protocols are still being followed.

To date, Guadiz also said the LTFRB had extended the effectivity of special permits already issued for select PUVs and granted 743 special permits to public utility buses to ascertain that there will be enough public transport service to serve passengers going to the provinces.

“That is why we are doing everything to make sure that passengers are provided the public transport service they deserve so that their travel experience after a long period of zero travel will be truly worth it.”

“At the LTFRB, public service never stops, and we will see to it that travelers’ and their families’ journey this Holy Week will be hassle- and trouble-free, using a convenient, accessible, safe and secure, and affordable public transportation system,” he added.
