Selected PUVs get extended special permits for Holy Week
MANILA, Philippines – To accommodate travelers during the Holy Week festivities, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) modified the length of the special permits granted to select public utility vehicles (PUVs).
The LTFRB “resolves to amend the duration of the Special Permit for 2023 Holy Week from 02 April 2023 to 11 April 2023 to 31 March 2023 to 17 April 2023,” it said in a statement.
“With the five-day break, it will give more Filipinos the chance to spend more time with their families in the provinces and for spiritual reflection during the Holy Week. That is why the Board decided to change the duration of Special Permits so that the commuting public is assured of a sufficient supply of public transportation that would take them to their destination,” LTFRB Chairman Teofilo Guadiz III said in a statement.
Following Malacañang’s Proclamation No. 90, which designated April 6 and 7 (Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, respectively) as regular holidays, special permits for Holy Week were provided to a limited group of PUVs for an extended time.
Meanwhile, the celebration of the Day of Valor or “Araw ng Kagitingan,” a regular holiday marked on April 9, was likewise rescheduled for April 10 as it fell on a Sunday this 2023.
