Fire hits poultry processing plant in Ubay town
TAGBILARAN CITY — A fire engulfed a poultry processing plant in Ubay town on Thursday but was extinguished after almost five hours.
The fire at Marcela Farms started past 1 p.m. on Thursday at the dressing plant building. No casualty was reported.
“We are grateful that all of our employees have safely evacuated the facility. Everyone in the dressing plant remains unharmed and are getting emergency assistance from our response team,” the company said in a statement.
“Despite the damages caused by the incident, we are doing everything we can to ensure continued supply of poultry products for Bohol,” it added.
In an incident report, SFO1 Jacob Busangilan, chief of operations at the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)- Ubay Fire Station, said the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
The fire was under control at 4:45 p.m. and was put out at 6:40 p.m.
