MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) near Mindanao is expected to bring rain over several parts of the country on Tuesday, while the northeast monsoon will likewise cause rain in parts of Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

According to Pagasa’s latest weather forecast, the LPA was last spotted 285 kilometers east southeast of Davao City. It continues to have low chance of developing into a storm but its trough is expected to affect several parts of the country.

“Inaasahan natin na itong trough ng LPA o mismong LPA ay magdudulot ng mga pagulan na may mga kasamang thunderstorms dito sa areas ng Visayas at Mindanao,” said Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres.

Meanwhile, Torres said the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, will continue to bring overcast skies and rain over Eastern Luzon, as well as Bicol Region.
