1 dead, 1 hurt in motorcycle collision in Batangas

LUCENA CITY — A rider died while another was seriously injured in an accident involving two motorcycles in Mataas na Kahoy town in Batangas province on Tuesday night, January 17.

The Batangas police, in a report Wednesday, said that Rich Alwin Tipan and Isagani Orense were riding their respective motorcycles when they collided around 11:50 p.m. in Barangay (village) Santol.

Both motorcyclists suffered grave injuries. Tipan died on the spot while Orense was taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.

The report did not state whether or not the victims were wearing crash helmets for protection.

According to investigators, Tipan occupied the opposite lane which led to the accident.

The police said the concerned parties are open to an amicable settlement.
