DOH logs 196 COVID-19 infections; active cases at 11,342

The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday registered an additional 196 infections of COVID-19, with active cases slightly down to 11,342.

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday registered an additional 196 infections of COVID-19, with active cases slightly down to 11,342.

With these new infections, the country’s COVID-19 caseload is now at 4,070,075 nationwide, with 3,993,715 recoveries and 65,618 deaths, based on the DOH’s online COVID-19 tracker.

These new infections are also lower than the average number of infections recorded last week, Jan.9 to 15, which was 419.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila continues to lead the list of regions with the most cases in the past two weeks with 1,694 cases, followed by Calabarzon at second with 855 infections, and Central Luzon with 431.

In terms of areas with the most cases, Quezon City led with 369 infections, followed by Cavite, which had 257, and Rizal with 236.

Meanwhile, a total of 10,686 tests were conducted on Monday, which will reflect the number of cases registered on Wednesday.

It can be recalled that the DOH previously warned the public that daily infections may reach around 700 by Feb. 15 if minimum public health standards continue to ease or when more variants of COVID-19 enter the country.
