MANILA, Philippines – Several local government units across the country suspended classes on Thursday, January 12, 2023 due to inclement weather caused by various weather systems.  

ALL LEVELS 

  • Bohol 
  • Cebu 
    • Mandaue 
  • Eastern Samar 
  • Leyte 
    • Tacloban 
    • Tanauan 
  • Negros Oriental 
  • Negros Occidental 
    • E.B. Magalona 
    • San Carlos 
    • Silay 
    • Talisay 

SELECTED LEVELS 

  • Cebu 
    • Carmen (Pre-school to senior high school) 
    • Lapu-Lapu (Pre-school to senior high school) 
  • Negros Occidental 
    • Bacolod (Pre-school to senior high school) 
    • Bago (Pre-school to senior high school) 
    • La Carlota (Pre-school to senior high school) 

Parts of the country, including Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao are experiencing the dual effects of a low pressure area and the shear line, which are forecast to cause cloudy skies and moderate to heavy rain, according to the  Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration. 

According to updated guidelines from the Department of Education, areas with an Orange or Red rainfall warning will have automatic class suspensions.
