Did you know: Lino Brocka
The late National Artist for Film and Broadcast, Lino Brocka, was born on April 3, 1939. Known for his socially oriented films like “Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang,” “Maynila Sa Kuko ng Liwanag” and “Insiang,” he was selected as one of the members of the 1986 Constitutional Commission but walked out in protest of the Convention’s decision on the land reform issue. A recipient of the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Journalism, Literature, and Creative Communication Arts in 1985, Brocka died in a car crash on May 21, 1991. Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
