Death toll due to shear line-induced rain climbs to 46 — NDRRMC
MANILA, Philippines — The total number of deaths due to the shear line-induced rains has climbed to 46, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said in its latest incident report on Friday.
Of the latest count, most were from Northern Mindanao which logged 24 deaths.
Six other regions also reported fatalities: Bicol Region, six deaths; Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Davao Region, four deaths each; Caraga region, three deaths; while Mimaropa also reported one death.
Most or 29 people have died due to drowning, seven succumbed to landslides, four were electrocuted to death, while one person died of cardiac arrest. The cause of fatalities for the rest of the victims have not yet been identified.
Moreover, a total of 28 people remain missing, while 12 were reported to be injured.

Article continues after this advertisementThe shearline brought moderate to heavy rains with at times intense rains over parts of southern part of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao over the weekend, according to the state weather bureau.
