Old woman found dead in Carmen home

AN 88-YEAR-OLD widow was found dead in her house in barangay Dawis Sur, Carmen town, northern Cebu Police said there were scratches found in Cleofe Geonzon’s neck and left arm and her cheek was bruised when she was found by her 27-year-old grandson James Paul around 5:30 p.m. last Tuesday.

The woman was found slumped on the floor outside her bedroom.

The grandson told police that he just arrived home after playing basketball when he saw his grandmother having difficulty breathing.

James Paul said the woman stopped breathing minutes later

The grandson said P800 cash and a cellphone plugged in his bedroom were missing.

Police said the body will be autopsied to determine the cause of death.

Based on the external injuries, it was possible that there was foul play in the woman’s death, said PO3 Edgardo Pataya, investigator of the Carmen police. /CORRESPONDENT RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL
