A COMPLAINT for murder was filed against a man tagged as a suspect in the killing of a businesswoman in Mandaue City last year.

Charged before the Mandaue City Prosecutors’ Office was Danilo Latonio Capa alias “Mokins” who was identified by a traffic enforcer as the one who shot  Irish Marie Hugo Gonzales in September 16 last year.

Capa remains at large.

The traffic enforcer said Capa was the backrider of motorcycle who shot Gonzales thrice while the victim was driving a Starex van at the junction of J. Briones Street and Andres Soriano Avenue in barangay Looc.

FEATURED STORIES

The traffic enforcer identified Capa through a photo found in the suspect’s Facebook account.

Also on board the Starex van was Crisostomo Alcala and three other persons.

The traffic enforcer said he shouted at the gunman after the shooting. The witness said the gunman stared at him before they sped off.

Insp. Ramil Morpos, chief of homicide section of the Mandaue City Police Office, said while Capa didn’t have criminal records they received information that the suspect was involved in shooting incidents that were not reported to the police.

Morpos said a friend of Capa who is jailed at the Bagong Buhay Rehabilitation Center (BBRC)  for a robbery case could also prove the suspect’s involvement in the Mandaue killing.

Joseph Flores said before Gonzales was killed, Capa approached him to help him find Kenneth Dignos as they allegedly had a mission to kill someone.

Flores was arrested in Cebu City last month for his alleged involvement in a robbery. Dignos was also arrested last month for carrying a firearm in barangay Looc, Mandaue.

Flores said Capa failed to find Dignos and instead offered him the order to kill the victim.

Flores said he turned down the offer.
