32 areas under COVID Alert Level 2 from Nov. 1 to 15; NCR, others under Alert Level 1

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday announced that 32 provinces, highly urbanized cities, and independent component cities are under COVID-19 Alert Level 2.

According to the DOH in a statement, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. approved the new COVID-19 Alert Level System (ALS) classifications of provinces, highly urbanized cities, and independent component cities from November 1 to 15.

A total of 89, including Metro Manila, out of the 121 provinces, are currently under Alert Level 1. Meanwhile, 32 areas are placed under Alert Level 2.

Areas under Alert Level 1 permit intrazonal and interzonal travel with no restrictions based on age and comorbidities.

All establishments, persons, or activities are allowed to operate, work, or be undertaken at full on-site or venue/seating capacity, provided it is consistent with minimum public health standards.

Meanwhile, areas under Alert Level 2 are now mandated to implement restrictions such as a 50 percent capacity in establishments indoors for fully vaccinated adults and a 70 percent capacity outdoors.

Meanwhile, DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said that these new alert level system classifications, prove that the country is “showing improvements” based on key indicators like the healthcare utilization rate.

“But while we see a continuous decline in case and admission trends, we must remember that de-escalation does not mean that the battle with COVID-19 is already over. These current numbers are not permanent; we must all work together to maintain these low numbers,” Vergeire said.

She then reminded the public to increase vigilance, emphasizing the need for stricter implementation of measures and policies against COVID-19, especially ahead of the coming holiday season when increased mobility and contact rates are expected
