Angkas CEO George Royeca: Everyone can now be a ‘negosyante’
MANILA, Philippines — Angkas CEO and transport advocate George Royeca believes every Filipino who dreamt of becoming an entrepreneur can now do so, thanks to the country’s growing access to technology.
During the Digital Sign Up Now 2022 organized by Go Negosyo, Royeca shared how a number of his Angkas riders left their corporate jobs to become their own bosses by joining the leading motorcycle taxi company.
Royeca said an Angkas rider earns as much as P1,500 to P2,000 pesos a day or up to P80,000 a month. He said this is the reason why they continuously recruit riders and bikers to join the Angkas family, “I am happy to tell everyone na patuloy naming sinusulong ang pagkuha ng Angkas riders kasi talaga namang naging matatag ang propesyon na ito.
The Angkas CEO reiterated the crucial role of technology in empowering micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs), especially in the case of habal-habal drivers. He said “habal-habals” had been in operation even before Angkas was conceptualized.

Aside from being “negosyantes,” Royeca also shared how Filipinos should strive to have at least a dual-income household and not just rely on one family member as the breadwinner.
“How do we move from a one income household to a dual income household? Lahat pwede magtrabaho, mula tatay hanggang anak. You want to empower that household. Lahat yan pwede maging negosyante eh.
