Cagayan put under state of calamity after several storms

Cagayan map STORY: Cagayan placed under state of calamity after several storms

MANILA, Philippines — The entire province of Cagayan on Tuesday has been placed under a state of calamity after several typhoons battered parts of Northern Luzon in the past few weeks.

Cagayan Gov. Manuel Mamba recommended the declaration of the state of calamity through Resolution No. 3, which was approved by the provincial board.

A  total of 232,982 individuals were affected in Cagayan by Typhoons Florita, Maymay, Neneng, and Obet, and even the shear line, according to the Cagayan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PRRMO).

The total damage so far has reached P565.8 million for agriculture, P78.4 million for infrastructure, and P4.02 million for livestock, the PDRRMO officer in charge, Rueli Rapsing, said in the statement.

The provincial government assured residents affected by the storms that it would give them assistance.
