PA’S GUN GOES OFF, HURTS SON
A 14-YEAR-OLD boy was wounded when his father’s gun accidentally went off inside their home in barangay Sangac, San Fernando, southern Cebu.
The boy was wounded in the back of the thigh. He was treated at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
The boy’s father surrendered to the police after the accident. He will be charged for illegal possession of firearm for his improvised shotgun known as “pugakhang”.

HABAL DRIVER GUNNED DOWN
A 30-YEAR-OLD HABAL-HABAL driver was shot dead by two unidentified attackers in barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion town, northern Cebu.
Clifford Quiapo suffered three gunshot wounds in the back.
Police are looking into fraternity rivalry as the possible motives of the killing.
The victim was a member of the Tau Gamma fraternity, said police
Quiapo went to sitio Lumbang with his girlfriend identified only as “Roxanne”.
Two men arrived on a red motorcycle without a plate number at 8:35 p.m. One of them disembarked and shot Quiapo thrice.
Quiapo lay sprawled on the ground while Roxanne left unharmed.

SECURITY UP FOR SUMMER
THE regional police announced it will implement Oplan Summer Vacation to ensure the safety of local and foreign tourists.
Policemen will be fielded in different tourist destinations, such as Bantayan Island off north Cebu which attracts many visitors during the Holy Week with its white sand beaches and unique religious processions.
In a conference yesterday, city and provincial directors presented their implementation plans.
Senior Supt. Louie Oppus, Deputy Regional Director for Operations said the plans just needed some finetuning before implementation.
A task force is already formed for the Bantayan celebration, where police will be watching terminals and ports, said Senior Supt. Patricinio Comendador Jr., director of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO).

Gang member stabbed in Mandaue
RIVAL gangs Bloods and Crips figured in another commotion last Sunday.
Kimso Uy, a member of the Bloods, was wounded after he was attacked by four members of Crips in barangay Umapad, Mandaue City.
Uy said he was sitting on his motorcycle when the group suddenly mauled him. One of them pulled a knife and stabbed him. They immediately left toward the interior portion of barangay Umapad.
Uy, however, said he does not know the names of the attackers.
Uy went home and sought help from his parents who then rushed him to Mandaue City Hospital.
Uy’s parents went to Mandaue City Police Headquarters and reported the incident.
