Wawa Bridge in Pangasinan town collapses; four injured

DAGUPAN CITY — Four people were injured when a portion of the Wawa Bridge in Bayambang town, Pangasinan province, collapsed on Thursday, authorities said.

In a statement, Bayambang Mayor Niña Jose-Quiambao said two trucks were on the bridge when the bridge,  also known as the Carlos P.  Romulo Bridge, caved in.

She also said four people sustained head injuries and were taken to a hospital.

All motorists heading to Bayambang from Camiling town in nearby Tarlac province were advised to find an alternative route as the bridge was immediately closed, Quiambao said.

The cause of the collapse was still being investigated.
