Rifle, ammunition cache found in abandoned NPA camp in Tarlac
MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — Policemen found on Saturday an automatic rifle and hundreds of rounds of live bullets at an alleged abandoned training camp of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Concepcion town, Tarlac province.
Tarlac police director Col. Erwin Sanque said in a statement on Sunday, Oct. 16, that they found the Colt M16 rifle, three loaded long and short magazines, and 58 boxes containing 30 live M16 bullets each in an abandoned training camp at Sitio Capcap in the farming village of Magao.
He said Concepcion police chief Lt. Col. Noriel Rombaoa had received information from an informant about the abandoned rebel training camp.
Town, provincial, and regional police and naval intelligence groups conducted a joint operation to verify the information and yielded a positive result.
The police brought the recovered firearms, magazines, and ammunition to the Concepcion police station for documentation and proper disposition. INQ
