DILG chief Abalos thanks CA for confirmation

MANILA, Philippines – Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. on Thursday expressed his gratitude to the Commission on Appointment (CA) for the approval of his appointment.

Abalos also thanked members of the commission for their “overwhelming appreciation” of his credibility as a politician.

“I have been the Secretary of the DILG for close to three months now, and it is encouraging to hear from colleagues in service that our efforts, both now and our years out of DILG, are noticed. To the CA, salamat po inyong pagtitiwala,” Abalos said.

The CA plenary approved Abalos’ ad interim appointment after the CA committee on interior, and the local government recommended his confirmation.

During the CA hearing, the Interior chief recognized the need for a collective government effort to address poverty and criminality, also baring plans on launching a “whole-of-nation approach” in combating illegal drugs.
