THE POWERADE Tigers and the Alaska Aces gun for playoff berth at each other’s expense as they collide in the main game of toady’s crucial double-header of the 37th PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Aces are playing their last elimination round assignment, hence, a loss could spell disaster for them as teams at the bottom still have chances of moving to the next round.

Although they still have two games left, the Tigers also badly need to win against the Aces since their last assignment will be against the formidable B-Meg Llamados.

Of the 10 competing teams, only the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters and the Llamados are assured of a spot in the playoffs.

Tournament format states that the top two teams after the nine-game elimination round will advance outright to the semifinal round while the number three to six teams will move to the quarterfinal phase.

The seventh to 10th teams will be eliminated.

Talk N Text leads the standings with a 5-2 (win-loss) record followed by B-Meg, which has five wins and three losses.

The Tigers are with the Barangay Ginebra Kings for the third and fourth spots with similar 4-3 records, while the Aces and the Barako Bull Energy both have 4-4 slates, good for fifth and sixth spots.
