Sen. Nancy Binay tests positive for COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — Senator Nancy Binay on Friday confirmed that she has tested positive for COVID-19.
“Yes tested positive last night,” she told INQUIRER.net.
“After more than two years of consciously observing all protocols to avoid the virus, it is unfortunate that yesterday (August 18), I tested positive for Covid-19,” Binay said in a statement.
Binay is the seventh senator to contract the virus since the 19th Congress opened.
Senators Alan Peter Cayetano, Imee Marcos, Cynthia Villar, Grace Poe, Joel Villanueva, and JV Ejercito have likewise tested positive for COVID-19.
Article continues after this advertisementBinay, currently in isolation, asked the public to pray for her and her colleagues’ recovery.
Article continues after this advertisement“I am currently at home in isolation, and strictly following recommended protocols, including health and safety procedures,” Binay said.
“My family and I are asking for your continued prayers for me and my colleagues in the Senate for our full recovery. As always, prayer is our first line of defense,” she continued.
