COVID-19 hits Sen. JV Ejercito
MANILA, Philippines – Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito on Friday told INQUIRER.net that he tested positive for COVID-19.
“Tested positive for COVID-19 according to [an] RT-PCR [test] yesterday morning, result of which was e-mailed late last night. No symptoms. Ingat pa rin po tayo (Take care, everyone),” he said in a separate Twitter post.
Ejercito is the the sixth senator to contract the coronavirus this month.
Senators Alan Peter Cayetano, Imee Marcos, Cynthia Villar, Joel Villanueva, and Grace Poe earlier tested positive for the viral infection.
Following the recent string of infections among lawmakers, the Senate tightened its protocols and implemented a three-week lockdown for guests which started Monday, August 15.
