Healthcare utilization rate in Olongapo up as COVID-19 cases grow

OLONGAPO CITY—The weekly healthcare utilization (HCUR) rate in this city rose to 42.2 percent as the city continues to experience an uptick in its COVID-19 cases, according to analytics group OCTA Research on Tuesday, Aug. 2.

Citing data from the Department of Health, OCTA said the city’s latest HCUR reflected an increase from just 27.1 percent the previous week.

The same data showed that the occupancy rate of the city’s intensive care unit (ICU) stood at 28.6 percent. On July 24, its ICU occupation rate was zero.

As of Monday afternoon, the city had 58 active COVID-19 cases, including the four new infections on that day.

A total of 7,151 COVID-19 cases had been registered in the city since 2020, although 6,739 of these had recovered.
