Motorcycle rider dead in Cavite road accident

LUCENA CITY — A motorcycle rider died after his vehicle was hit by a sports utility vehicle in Bacoor City in Cavite province on Saturday (July 30) night, a report said Sunday, July 31.

The Police Regional Office 4-A reported that Wilfredo Maldonado Jr. was driving his motorcycle around 7:50 p.m. when he was hit by a Toyota Fortuner driven by Natasha Marie Tan at a road intersection in Barangay (village) San Nicolas 2.

The victim sustained injuries and was taken to Southern Tagalog Regional Hospital, also in the city, where he died around 9 p.m. while undergoing treatment.

The report did not state whether or not the fatality was wearing a crash helmet as mandated under the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
