PNP nabs Leyte’s alleged third most wanted fugitive facing rape charges
MANILA, Philippines – Leyte’s alleged third most wanted fugitive, who is facing rape charges, was arrested on Thursday during a police operation, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.
PNP officer-in-charge, Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., in a statement on Thursday said that the operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) arrested the suspect in Brgy. Talinhugon, Dagami, Leyte.
Danao added that the operation was conducted by the AKG-led Ormoc Satellite Office, and personnel of the Dagami Municipal Police Station and Intelligence Unit.
Police said 39-year-old Rogelio Tonido is listed as the third most wanted person in the Leyte province and is accused of rape.
The suspect was served a warrant of arrest for three counts of rape with no recommended bail, police said.
Article continues after this advertisementThe warrant was dated July 18, issued by Judge Catherine Lopez-Vanilla of the Regional Trial Court Branch 15 in Burauen, Leyte.
