More road repairs, more traffic in Metro Manila
MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Public Works and Highways on Friday gave notice to the public that they should expect traffic slowdown or grid locks in sections of 20 major thoroughfares in seven Metro Manila cities due to continuing road improvement and maintenance works.
The repair and upgrade projects in Manila, Quezon, Caloocan, Pasay, Pasig, Malabon and Muntinlupa cities began at 10 p.m. Friday and will end at 4 a.m. on Monday.
In Manila, road projects are being implemented along Bonifacio Drive from Anda Circle to 2nd Street in Port Area; New Panaderos Street in Sta. Ana, from the Sta. Ana Church to Lamayan Street; South Superhighway (southbound), from Zobel Roxas Street to Quirino Avenue; P. Casal Street in Quiapo; AH Lacson Street going to Rotonda in Sampaloc; and R-10 in Tondo, Manila, between C2 and Jacinto Street.
In Quezon City, the repairs are being done on the 1st lane of Batasan Road going to San Mateo; 2nd northbound lane of Regalado Avenue, from Ipil to Misa de Gallo Streets; Fairview Avenue southbound outer lane, from Fairlane to Camaro; and Araneta Avenue’s first lane from the sidewalk, from Baloy to Landargun Streets; 15th Avenue between Ermin Garcia Street and Aurora Boulevard; and along N. Domingo Street, from Balete to Rosario Drive.
Along Edsa, repair crews will be working on the 5th northbound lane from Corregidor Street to Fema Road; 1st lane northbound from the sidewalk between Gate 3 and Gate 2 of Camp Aguinaldo; and 2nd lane from the sidewalk between Boni Serrano and Liberty Avenues.
Along Aurora Boulevard in QC, the repairs will be along the east-bound outer lane, from Anonas to F. Castillo streets and along the Manila-bound first lane from the service road island between E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue and Lantana Street.
Article continues after this advertisementOn Boni Serrano Avenue, repair work will be along the second lane from the sidewalk between Edsa and 3rd Avenue and between 6th Camarilla and 20th Avenue.
Article continues after this advertisementIn Makati: South Superhighway between Zobel Roxas and Buendia Flyover; center lane of Pasong Tamo Avenue between the Makati Diversion Channel and Edsa; and the center lane of Gil Puyat Avenue between South Superhighway and Dian Street.
There will also be construction work in Caloocan, along Edsa’s northbound lane going to Monumento, particularly the 2nd lane from the center island, between the Caloocan-QC boundary and F. Aguilar 2 Street.
MH del Pilar Street in Malabon; Aurora Boulevard southbound from Edsa to Aurora Bridge in Pasay; Daang Maharlika in Muntinlupa; and the west-bound lane of Ortigas Avenue between C5 and Lanuza Street in Pasig will also see construction work.
