MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) warned the public on Friday over unscrupulous individuals using the name of Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma to solicit money.

DOLE said the scammers are using the name of Laguesma in soliciting and demanding money from businessmen and companies to facilitate or get favorable results on their pending or potential concerns with the labor department.

“The labor department strongly condemns such nefarious acts that tend to put to bad light the DOLE and destroy the good name of the Labor Secretary,” DOLE said in an advisory.

The labor department urged the public to report such illegal and illicit activities to the nearest DOLE Regional offices or call DOLE Hotline 1349. — Andy Hoo, INQUIRER.NET intern
