Metro Manila’s COVID-19 positivity rate up at 9.8%, says OCTA Research

MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila has hit 9.8 percent, independent pandemic monitor Octa Research said.

According to Octa fellow Dr. Guido David, Metro Manila’s positivity rate rose to 9.8% from 8.3% last Saturday.

Other areas have likewise recorded an increase in positivity rates, he also said.

Guido further said Wednesday that positivity rate has reached more than 10 percent in the following areas:

  • Antique – 20.6% from 17.1%
  • Batangas – 10.7% from 7.3%
  • Cavite – 13.2 % from 11.7%
  • Iloilo – 10.1% from 7.2%
  • Laguna – 17.3% from 10.3%
  • Pampanga – 15% from 9.1%
  • Rizal – 16.5% from 11.3%

The positivity rate refers to the percentage of people found positive for SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19, among the total number of individuals tested.

On Tuesday, the Department of Health said that the COVID-19 positivity rate in the country is at 6.8 percent with six regions registering a positivity rate of more than 5 percent.
