MANILA, Philippines — Preparations for President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s inauguration ceremony at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila are almost done as of Wednesday night.

Preparations committee head Franz Imperial also bared they are crafting a “Plan B” in case there will be rain on Thursday, June 30.

“Preparations are 95 percent, there as you can see, konting tweaking na lang. But we saw the run-through and alam na nila gagawin nila, itong technicals na lang, and ang concern na lang talaga ‘yung weather,” Imperial told reporters in an interview.

“We’re preparing a Plan B, we’re discussing it pero (but) nonetheless the 12 noon (Marcos’ oathtaking) should happen,” he added.

In case of a downpour, Imperial said the committee will distribute ponchos to guests and observers while people may still be able to watch the livestream.

The event will then be moved indoors to the old Session Hall, but it is still subject to change, he added.

Gates for the general public will open in the morning, but the “strict lockdown” is up to the Presidential Security Guard (PSG), said Imperial.

He also reiterated that the ceremony would be “traditional and simple,” following Marcos Jr.’s directives. “So we’re sticking to that.”
