CITY OF CALAPAN — Anti-drug operatives arrested three people on Monday night (June 27) in a joint buy-bust operation by local police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in San Jose town in Occidental Mindoro province, a report from Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) police said.
Police Colonel Simeon Gane Jr., provincial chief of police, said Lawrence Mariano, 46; Wowie Bernabe, 25; and Julius Quizon, 38, were arrested at 10 p.m. after allegedly selling a sachet of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth), weighing 0.3 grams and worth P1,000, to a poseur-buyer in Barangay (village) Central.
Seized from the suspects, who were all residents of San Jose, were four sachets of shabu weighing about 13 grams and worth P104,000.
Since January, police in Mimaropa reported 153 anti-illegal drug operations that resulted in the arrest of 172 drug suspects, yielding a total of 378.67 grams of shabu valued at P2,589,516.
“Again, this is an evident manifestation of our unyielding commitment to eradicating all forms of illegal drug activities in the region,” said Police Brigadier General Sidney Sultan Hernia, regional police chief.
