Labella tells VM: Reorganize council
CEBU City Councilor Edgar Labella begged off from assuming as majority floor leader in yesterday morning’s council session citing the lack of support from fellow councilors.
Council rules, however, created a quandary as the former member of the majority in the City Council said he just cannot resign since it would be tantamount to abandonment of his post.
To remedy this, Vice Mayor Joy Augustus Young has to reorganize the City Council and elect his replacement from the majority.
Labella and Councilor Jose Daluz bolted the Council majority to support Mayor Michael Rama when he resigned from the administration Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK).
As this developed, councilors also deferred approval of three resolutions by Councilor Jose Daluz, which sought funding from the city sponsored activities for the seminars of officials and employees of three baranagays.
Labella’s request for council approval on an executive order, which set the guidelines for the release of livelihood assistance fund to Guba residents was also put on hold.
