DOLE monitors wage hike compliance in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is monitoring private firms in Negros Occidental to make sure they comply with the new minimum wage increase in the province.

DOLE provincial head Mary Agnes Capigon said at least 15 labor inspectors were deployed to the different companies to ensure that workers got the right amounts approved by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in Western Visayas, which took effect on June 5.

The wage order raised the daily salary of workers in private establishments with more than 10 employees from P395 to P450; from P310 to P420 in private establishments employing 10 workers and below; and from P315 to P410 for agricultural workers.
