Casino operator asks SC to stop Okada’s takeover
A group claiming to be the rightful officials of Okada Manila has petitioned the Supreme Court to invalidate the action of Japanese gambling tycoon Kazuo Okada and businessman Antonio “Tonyboy” Cojuangco, who took physical control of the integrated casino-hotel complex in Parañaque City.
In a 25-page urgent manifestation, Tiger Resorts, Leisure and Entertainment Inc. asked the high court to clarify the coverage of its April 27 resolution granting Okada’s petition for a status quo ante order.
It said Okada, Cojuangco and their associates “unduly expanded, perverted and inexcusably abused” the order in taking over the casino on May 31. —Marlon Ramos
