Nat’l wage commission OKs salary hike in Cagayan Valley, Mimaropa, Soccsksargen
MANILA, Philippines— A number of workers from Cagayan Valley, Mimaropa and Soccsksargen will receive a salary hike in the coming weeks to cushion the impact of soaring prices of goods due to overseas unrest.
This, after the National Wages and Productivity Commission affirmed on Friday the minimum wage increase of domestic workers in Cagayan Valley and Mimaropa, as well as workers in private establishment workers in Mimaropa and Soccsksargen, the Department of Labor and Employment announced in an advisory on Saturday.
The domestic workers in Cagayan Valley and Mimaropa will receive a ₱1,000 raise, bringing their monthly salary to ₱5,000 and ₱4,500, respectively.
Workers in private establishments in Mimaropa and Soccsksargen will also receive a ₱35 and ₱32 wage increase, respectively. This brings the new minimum wage rate in Mimaropa to ₱329 for establishments with less than 10 workers and ₱355 for establishments employing 10 or more workers. In Soccsksargen, the new minimum wage will now be at ₱368 for the non-agriculture sector and ₱347 for those working in the agriculture, service, and retail sectors.
The minimum wage hike will take effect 15 days after publication after publication in a newspaper of regional circulation, according to the labor department.
