Incumbent mayors in 2 Pampanga cities win reelections
MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – Officials of the Commission on Elections proclaimed on Tuesday (May 10) reelectionist Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. of Angeles City and this city’s reelectionist Mayor Crisostomo Garbo as the winners in the May 9 elections.
In this city, Garbo won against his closest rival, former mayor Marino “Boking” Morales, by a margin of more than 49,000 votes based on the election returns from the 189 clustered precincts here.
The incumbent mayor got 79,794 votes as against the 25,926 votes obtained by Morales.
Reelectionist Vice Mayor Geld Aquino also won by more than 54,000 votes against former Vice Mayor Christian Halili.
The winning councilors are all teammates of Garbo and Aquino. They include Jun Castro, Cherry Manalo, Marjorie Sambo, Timothy Llanos Dee, Cocoy Tiglao, Noel Castro, Liza Pineda, Rox Peña, Jerry Magsino and Carl Dizon.
Article continues after this advertisementIn nearby Angeles City, Lazatin garnered 112,947 votes and won against Councilor Amos Rivera, who got only 47,300 votes based on 298 clustered precincts’ election returns.
Article continues after this advertisementLazatin was proclaimed along with reelectionist Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Kabigting and those who won city council seats.
Also proclaimed as winning councilors in Angeles City Pogs Suller, JC Parker-Aguas, Dan Lacson, Jay Sangil, Niknok Bañola, Alex Indiongco, Paolo Del Rosario, Edu Pamintuan, Joseph Alfie Bonifacio and Chris Cortez.
Seven of the winning councilors belong to Lazatin’s team. Indiongco, Pamintuan and Cortez belong to other political parties.
Comelec also proclaimed Mayor Lazatin’s brother, re-electionist Rep. Carmelo Lazatin III, who ran unopposed in Pampanga’s First District under PDP-Laban. The district comprises Angeles City, Mabalacat City and Magalang town.
