ILOILO CITY—Supporters of presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate, Sara Duterte, showed all-out support to the tandem at the Marcos-Duterte miting de avance at the Guimbal Football Field in the city on Tuesday (May 3).

Like in all their rallies, Marcos and Duterte pounded on the theme of unity at their Visayas miting de avance, the first of a series.

“Unity is very important. Your way of welcoming us in Guimbal showed that you also welcome our message of unity,” said Marcos, only son of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

Duterte expressed agreement, but also took the chance to express pride in the projects started by her father, the outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte, and vowed to continue those.

Senatorial candidates under the Marcos-Duterte Uniteam—Win Gatchalian, Jinggoy Estrada, Harry Roque and Rodante Marcoleta—were on the stage with the main candidates. Marcoleta had earlier announced he was withdrawing from the Senate race.

Celebrities led by Toni Gonzaga, comedians Bayani Agbayani and Ai-ai Delas Alas provided entertainment along with the band Aegis.

The Uniteam miting de avance for Mindanao would be held in Tagum City, Davao del Norte on May 5 while that for Luzon would be held in Parañaque City on May 7, the same day that Vice President Leni Robredo and her running mate Kiko Pangilinan will hold theirs in Makati City.
