Bongbong Marcos eyeing immunization registry system in every LGU

MANILA, Philippines — Presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Thursday said he will establish an immunization registry system in every local government unit (LGU) in the country should he be elected president.
Marcos said the registry system will make way for easier and quicker access to all the immunization records of Filipinos through digital platforms instead of the usual physical identification cards.
A quick response (QR) code will be provided to each vaccinated individual which they can present to be allowed to enter establishments, if needed, Marcos said.
“Our unifying leadership shall provide measures and strategies on how Filipinos can improve their lives and how the Philippine economy can rebound while in the midst of the pandemic and even beyond it,” Marcos said in a statement.
Currently, many establishments in the country are requiring vaccination cards from people entering their premises as proof that they have been inoculated against COVID-19.
Marcos said the immunization registry system is among the measures he seeks to push as the country recovers from the coronavirus pandemic which impacted several sectors and industries.
The presidential candidate likewise vowed to increase the budget for the country’s healthcare system as well as increase health workers’ salaries and benefits.
Further, Marcos said he will also push for more public hospitals, and boost the country’s medical research capability on top of his plans to increase the number of specialty hospitals in every region similar to the National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Lung Center of the Philippines and the Philippine Heart Center.
Earlier, Marcos said he will overhaul the country’s healthcare system should he be elected as the next president of the country.
