5 caught in ComVal robbery
TAGUM CITY, Philippines—Five suspects, including two minors, were arrested shortly after they robbed a grocery store in Monkayo town owned by the family of Compostela Valley Vice Governor Ramil Gentugaya on Thursday, police said.
Senior Superintendent Aaron Aquino, Compostela Valley police director, said Friday that lawmen also recovered a sports utility vehicle the suspects allegedly used to transport their loot.
Aquino identified the suspects as Anita Espina, 40; Roel Maarat, 38, of Cagayan de Oro City; Ricky Pardillo, 40. The minors were aged 15 and 17, he said.
He said the thieves were caught on the store’s close-circuit television cameras while stealing the goods.
The suspects are now detained at the Monkayo police station while charges were being readied against them, Aquino said.
