MANILA, Philippines–A 10-ton shipment of relief goods sent by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for Japan, was flown Friday by Philippine Airlines (PAL) on board a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft bound for Narita airport, Tokyo.

The donated goods, gathered by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) from various sources, were contained in more than 500 boxes and sacks, consisting of blankets, ready-to-eat food, noodles, bottled water and others.

PAL flew the shipment for free, with Philippine Ambassador to Japan Manuel Lopez as consignee who has arranged for the waiver of any airport fees upon arrival of the goods at Tokyo.

Meanwhile, the second and third batches of Absolute distilled water donated by Asia Brewery, are scheduled to be flown by PAL to Japan on March 26 and 27. These consist of 70,000 bottles or 27 tons of water per shipment, out of a total of 700,000 donated bottles.
