MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area off Davao City is expected to dump moderate to heavy rain in most parts of the Visayas and Mindanao on Wednesday.

The low pressure area was located 260 kilometers northeast of Davao City as of 5 p.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Pagasa said there was little chance that the low pressure area would intensify into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours, but was not discounting the possibility that it could strengthen further as the weather disturbance remained at sea.

A shear line, meanwhile, brought light to moderate rains in Metro Manila and parts of Luzon on Tuesday. The weather is expected to improve on Wednesday, Pagasa said.
