Cops nab 3 alleged gunrunners in Cavite

LUCENA CITY – Police arrested three suspected gunrunners and seized an assortment of illegal firearms in a buy-bust operation in Imus City in Cavite province on Friday (April 1), report said Saturday (April 2).

Police Brigadier General Antonio Yarra, director of Police Regional Office 4A, in a report identified the arrested suspects as Lyle Irish Peña, 31; Jazon Gamazon, 37; and Romar Bejasa, 29. The operatives conducted the sting operation on Friday at 4 p.m. in the parking lot of a supermarket in Barangay (village) Palico 4.

Police seized 9mm Taurus pistol with a magazine and a laser; a 9mm Taurus G3 pistol with two magazines and a reloader with the case; one caliber .45 Armscor pistol with the case; one AKKAR Altay shotgun; and one CZ Scorpion Evo 3 S1 .a 9mm Luger carbine rifle with a magazine, from the possession of the suspects. All firearms lack government-issued documents and corresponding licenses and permits for the holders.

Police also confiscated a Toyota Vios sedan believed to have been used by the suspects in their illegal activities.

The suspects will be charged with violation of Section 32 (Unlawful Manufacture, Importation, Sale or Disposition of Firearm or Ammunition) of Republic Act 10591 of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The suspects are also facing formal complaints for violation of the election period gun ban.
